January 21  --  Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner This event is held at the Waterfront Country Club.  Special awards are presented to Chamber businesses which are selected by their fellow members for the previous year's accomplishments.   

February 26 – 28 Southwest VA Boat Show 2010 – Roanoke Civic Center. Visitors to this year’s Southwest Virginia Boat Show Feb. 26-28 will have some new “waters” to explore. First, the show will be expanding into a much larger indoor exhibit area.
New exhibitors this year will include dock builders, providers of barbeque grills and other outdoor living furnishings and living accessories, casual clothing retailers and landscapers, to name just a few. The increasing popularity of board sports at SML will also be reflected at the show. Several of the participating dealers offer boats designed for towing wake boarders, wake skaters and for the newest craze, wake surfing.
 
April 15 - 18 --  ESPN Bassmaster Elite Tournament – Blue Ridge Brawl - Be a part of the excitement of this nationally-recognized fishing competition. 

April 30  - SML Business Expo - Sponsored by the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, this annual event showcases member businesses, service providers and their products. Public invited. Location this year will be in Downtown Moneta and will feature 140 businesses exhibiting products and services and a full day of business interaction. Lunch noon till 2pm. Door prizes.

May 1   --  23rd  Annual Take Pride in Smith Mountain Lake Cleanup  Day   This event marks the 23rd annual lake-wide clean-up effort. Volunteers from the entire community get involved in sprucing up the lake and shore for the coming summer season. May 1  --  13^th  Annual SML Triathlon - Come participate or cheer your favorites in swimming, biking and running events at the beautiful Smith Mountain Lake State Park located in Huddleston off of the Smith Mountain Lake State Parkway (Route 626).

May 14 – 16 – 10^th Annual Pigg River Ramble - Located in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Franklin County, Virginia will be hosting its annual Pigg River Ramble Weekend. The Ramble weekend begins Friday night, with floaters traveling two miles down the Blackwater River, with only flashlights and paddles in hand. Saturday is packed with more fun and excitement, as canoeists and kayakers race 7.5 miles down the adventurous Pigg River. How many floaters will make it over Pigg River's infamous "Ledge"? Sunday, the final day of the Ramble Weekend, has breakfast on the Blackwater. Breakfast will be prepared and served by the river, with a subtle, last day fun float.

May 17   --  14^th  Annual Corporate Cup Golf Classic - The opening of the spring golfing season at the lake is a much-anticipated event by golfers from the surrounding communities.

May 21 - 22   --  Tom Maynard Memorial Poker Run - Special charity event that involves playing poker from watercraft. Prizes are awarded for both winning and losing hands and best "decked out" boat and crew.  The Poker Run is dedicated to good fun and all proceeds go to a worthy cause.  Other special events surrounding the Tom Maynard Poker Run weekend include a welcome dinner with entertainment as well as a special boating safety orientation class.

Independence Day Celebrations  --  throughout the July 4th Weekend Lots of fun, entertainment and grand fireworks for all to see, this major event takes place at Parkway Marina in Huddleston to celebrate our nation's independence.  

September 17 - 18  --  Smith Mountain Lake Antique and Classic Boat Show - In and out of the water antique and classic boats, a display of antique automobiles. September 25 and 26   --   Smith Mountain Lake Wine Festival - This amazing weekend event includes 28 Virginia wineries participating offering their finest vintages. Live entertainment and much more.  One of the Lake's great events.  Location – Lakewatch Plantation

October 1 –3   --  Smith Mountain Lake Charity Home Tour -  Visit eight beautiful waterfront homes reflecting a variety of architectural and decorating styles. Tour the featured homes by car or boat.

November 6  --  8th Annual Smith Mountain Lake Fall Chili and Craft Festival - Enjoy a full-day event featuring music, crafts and a spectacular, competitive Chili cook-off, with awards for Best Chili, People's Choice and Showmanship!  Held at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, near the Hales Ford Bridge.  

November 27  --  Virginia Dare Flotilla for Toys Christmas Boat Parade  - An evening event, with a parade of boats 'decked out' for the holiday season with lights and displays.  The boats leave port from the Virginia Dare Marina at 7 p.m., travel to Halesford Bridge at Bridgewater Plaza, circle past the SML State Park and return to the Virginia Dare Marina. This event is a local toy drive with all gifts distributed by the Lake Christian Ministries.
